Why would they want to if they're getting rich off of us? Remember they are insane fundamental Islamists that want nothing more than to bring us down. (Actually they could get richer off us. If they cut production by 30% the cost of oil would go through the roof and would throw us into recession or worse).

The reason we haven't developed alternative sources YET is not because of the government (as so many claim), but because there has been no financial incentive. When you get $8/gallon gas, you'll start to see some of these developments -- and quickly. Then, where will our oil-laden enemies be? The Arabs have oil and that's all they have.

They'll buy all the oil the Arabs can pump for the billions of tiny cars they'll be driving, and they won't need us either. We need to be getting ready for the time when neither of them need us, and all we're left with is poor citizen services, MASSIVE debt and a moldering gigantic military. Maybe we can rent our military out like the Swiss used to do with their pikemen. en.wikipedia.org
