Thus, you are "Asian" by culture but not ethnicity.

western culture is what got us into the mess we are in

Dramatic reduction of early childhood deaths, longer lifespans, the automobile, telephone, internet, airplane...? You mean that part of Western culture..? Was the cultural revolution Eastern culture or a huge mistake by a small group of people..? Was the Japanese Imperial army sweeping into Nanjing an expression of Eastern culture..? There's good and bad in every culture.
