Personally I don't believe either McCain or Obama think like these men, and I won't be making a decision based on their associations with them. More telling is how they handle the problem.

Seems to me that what it all comes down to is that I wouldn't really want for president anyone who could do what it takes to become president. I've always felt that way. Nasty business. There is only worst, and less worst.

"where Hagee was passive- (who me? NOno, GOD wished it!)."

i think is rather the same thing, also. but i tend to prefer wright's way. there is something of an unseemly plausible deniability in Hagee etals way of doing it. and having heard & seen several of those guys say such things many times, i always have a feel of self-satisfaction from them... that they said god would damn america for them bad people and by gawd he has. i i i toooooooold you so!!! and invariably it is private matters they speak about. not something like... oh, i dunno... bombing another country into a parking lot and killing untold # of innocents. the crux for me in the hagee variety is that if god doesn't damn america - if katrina etc is not a sign of that - then they would be proven wrong either about the wrongs they see in others or that god would actually go to the trouble to damn a country for the behavior of a few. if gays are allowed a free and decent open life & abortion remains legal, and america thrives... what does that say under their theory? so a katrina must be a retribution, not a regular ol' natural disaster (made into mega disaster through lack of planning). i personally don't care for wright or anyone calling on national damnation from a god. or a hagee saying america is damned if they don't do this or that. but i find them essentially cut from the same old testament prophet cloth.

and wright says the govt created aids and unleashed it against blacks. the hagee sorts say aids is god's vengence against gays. is some sorta pattern there?
