During vietnam i thought we were in a life and death struggle with communism so why is that war fought for nothing? Because history has since shown it had little effect on the outcome of the cold war. LBJ and RN didnt know that then, so they continued the fight. If the likely outcome in iraq is a shiaa state in the south, somewhat the puppet of iran, a free kurdish region or state and some sort of tribal chief run sunni area, there is no reason to believe that a catastrophe would occur in such a case.

Vietnam was 58300 lives lost for nothing. Iraq, if we are successful, will radically alter the Middle East FOREVER, in a way that provides numerous important benefits for the United States.

You have to be kidding. Neo dog chow.

I just hope some of you guys are still around when it is over, and when the outcome can be rationally evaluated.

Where are the Baghdad Walmarts and McDonalds that you thought were worth our soldiers sacrifice?
