That was 1984. Has the law changed since then?

The rule of thumb as I understand is that one should keep any records that are related to income particularly that that is unearned.

I have kept every stock record since day one. As well as real estate transactions on homes as we moved quite a bit in early marriage.

Income taxes is one of the biggest stresses of our lives-----I believe that if the income tax were abolished people would stop being bookkeepers and enjoy their lives.

Just think of the benefit in mental and physical health for the people of the good ole USA.

Maybe there is something to what Huckabee proposed----abolish the income tax and do a value added tax or maybe do a flat tax-----even there one would have to document income if it were other than a salary by a company.

Of course the argument is that it is unfair to the so called poor to have value added tax as they cannot afford to pay the VAT.
