If you are black engineer with at least the same amount of experience and skills as a white engineer, employers all along the West Coast will almost always choose the black engineer.

This affirmative action is in place partly because there is a huge underrepresentation of blacks in engineering. Can't be that "white privilege" you are talking about, because there is a huge representation of Asians.
