What do you think of the broad hedges?

Corsair Capital and other institutional investors with massive short positions (who made gains of multi-billions of dollars in 2007 and early 2008) (who else would so easily buy into NCC without asking the Fed for a safety net, so they looked like market timers?), rather than unwinding in the obvious ways, have come to the "rescue" of an entity that suffered from the expectation of future defaults. So they bought up, as a group, half of NCC, for example, and MOL unwound without being noticed, while funding NCC so it can buy up other weakened banks.

When we get to the other side, they'll make as much on the recovery as they made on the cycle of fear, while with help from the Fed (the lower rates), this event turns out not to be as bad as feared.

Just like a regular short and cover, without being noticed.
