Dead oceans are alarming. While some things may be alarmist- depleted fisheries and dead zones in the oceans, imo, are different than your run of the mill alarms. IMO

I'm not overly excited by man made global warming- since there isn't much people will be willing to do about it- and the effects of climate change are very hard to pin down. The ocean damage is much clearer, imo. And it is a potential doomsday even for us if we kill them. Just as global thermonuclear war is. Some things are doomsday events.
