Lane3;

There are costs in chasing down the holy grail. If nothing else there are opportunity costs. When money is working here, we have money that's not working there.

Well ya I agree. If you build solar and wind energy sources you are putting money to work in these industries rather than oil. But again you are moving away form the real question and arguing the obvious. Why do you dismiss off hand those things I keep bringing up that you can place as advantages of renewable energy? The war in Iraq is to any sane person a cost of oil. The escalating cost of allergies and asthma in children are real cost to society - to the welfare of Americans. If we move towards renewable energy we add to these noneconomic benefits. And most importantly, if the train has not left the station, we are right now working towards a GW solution.

Do you want to make everything a money issue - ala an Ayn Rand? If so then Bush was sure your man. I want a better world. I have kids and I think we should be ashamed for the problems we heap upon future Americans - economic, political and environmental. perhaps we should just agree we have differing priorities.
