Have you ever seen bush on TV? He must impress you.

Bush is a lousy speaker, but his knowledge of the subject matter is adequate and is certainly tempered by his experience.

Gaps in his knowledge?? What were you watching?

First of all, on the Wright issue, I think Russert spent too much time on it. But there was a key remark that was not followed up on (as usual) that really says a lot about the Wright affair. This had to do with Obama's telling Wright he was "disinvited" from giving the invocation for his announcement of his candidacy--when he said, "You get kind of rough in the sermons so we decided it is best for you not to be out there in public". This remark clearly shows that Obama was totally aware of Wright's positions, and his claims to the contrary are lies. I cannot stand a liar.

Here's an example from his interview:

I mean, people who--can't go on job searches because they can't fill up their gas tank. And so what I've said is, let's accelerate a--the second half of a tax stimulus proposal that I had put forward that would put, immediately, hundreds of dollars into people's pockets to get through the summer; let's pass a permanent middle-class tax cut, $1,000 per family, to offset the payroll tax to deal not just with rising costs of gas, but also rising costs of food, rising costs of prescription drugs; and, most importantly, let's invest in alternative fuels, raising fuel efficiency standards on cars, and let's get serious about reducing consumption of oil, which is the only way that, over the long term, we're going to reduce, we're going to reduce gas prices.

This all sounds silky smooth. But how is it ANY different from what McCain and Hillary have both proposed (both of whom are, of course, pandering)?

When one digests what Obama is saying here, there isn't a solid proposal in the paragraph -- not one. It is all BS designed to suck people in who don't have the understanding of the issues to realize that there are no details in what he said. "let's get serious about reducing consumption of oil"??? If you want my vote, make a real proposal, don't just restate the obvious. What does Obama not know? Answer: Just how damned hard it is to do these things.

He does the same thing when he says, "my top priority is making sure that people are able to get enough to eat. And if it turns out that we've got to make changes in our ethanol policy to help people get something to eat, then that's got to be the step we take." This is fluff. A simple restatement of the problem. Obviously, if people aren't getting enough to eat, that becomes a higher priority than ethanol. We knew that. So, what are you going to do? Dodge the question with a slick answer.

Again, on the nuclear power issue: "I think we do have to look at nuclear, and what we've got to figure out is can we store the material properly? Can we make sure that they're secure? Can we deal with the expense?" Hell, there is nothing new in here. SOS. Then he says, "Each nuclear power plant that is proposed has a new design, has--it, it has all kinds of changes, there are all sorts of cost overruns. So it has not been an effective option. "

Of course, the real reason you can't build new nuclear plants today is that the government regulation has brought it to its knees.

His response on the Iran issue was utter nonsense. The solution to the problem with Iran is to pull the troops out of Iraq? He basically has bought the BS line that the reason Iran hates us is because we're in Iraq, when the reality is Iran's president started this crap with us nearly 30 years ago.

He naively said we have to "talk directly with Iran and send them a clear message that they have to stop". How freaking stupid. We've been talking with Iran, and we've BEEN sending them clear messages, which they go right about ignoring. He wants to give them "carrots" but we already know they don't respond to carrots. What kinds of carrots, anyway? Are we going to put them on the US government dole, too?

Well, I could go on but it is a waste. Everyone here has his mind made up at this point. But any deeper look at Obama's remarks make it clear he is weak on the issues. I didn't find, in yesterday's show which I watched 3 times, any real substance in anything the guy said. Other than the fact that he clearly lied about what he knew and when he knew it wrt Wright.
