Why would it have been any different back then? "Yes, Thomas Jefferson—hero of modern liberals—believed in intelligent design." So? That is a matter of faith. Where the objection comes in is when there are attempts to teach it as science. It isn't. It can't be. Because it is inherently unprovable.
