And these two came from that shelter as strays.

They don't make you sign an oath in blood to keep them indoors? I've worked with a private rescue groups and the local shelter and both were adamant about it.

My hot button on animal welfare is the intentional breeding of pure-bred dogs to serve as family pets. I know lots of people have a special fondness for particular breeds, and will pay good money for them. But I believe that's wrong.

IMO mixed breeds, mongrels if you insist, make better pets; in general, less temperamental. But I wouldn't call anybody a bad name who wants a pure-bred golden retriever, for example <g>.

It's just that the animal shelters in this country put millions of wonderful animals to sleep every year, when they could make great pets for a very small fee.

>>Since I volunteer at an animal-rescue shelter, that's probably a good idea. And these two came from that shelter as strays.<<

Dale -

Glad to hear it. My two cats started off with me as foster kittens. I've successfully raised several litters, including bottle-feeding them, and managed to help them get adopted, but these two stuck.

I still have a dream of one day having a large enough property that I can rescue and rehabilitate a lot of animals there, from cats to horses. I'd even like to get involved with big cats, if possible.
