Rendell is a popular governor in PA and would certainly guarantee keeping PA blue. On the other hand, he has some baggage. He is considered to be the type of politician who would do anything to win - kind of like Hillary - and this might hurt him nationally.

Rendell will certainly help secure the Jewish vote and that might help in some swing states, e.g., FL. The last time the Democrats used this tactic was to capture FL with Lieberman in 2000.

How'd that work out? OOPS, I forgot, they did WIN FL in 2000.

I think Rendell would be a smart choice. He's perfect VP material, older, experienced, a Governor. A Cheney without the evil..

I predict Obama's running mate will have extensive foreign policy experience....most likely Obama will choose someone like Sam Nunn, Jim Webb, Bill Richardson, or former 4 star General Wes Clark.
