High jumpers make a running start, and they jump higher, measured vertically, than any basketball player.

What are you measuring, the height of the feet or the center of gravity or what?

I was a gymnast as a kid. I was taught to high jump a totally different way. Like the flop but the butt goes over first, then one foot at a time followed by the shoulders and head. Seems strange in retrospect.

I think it would be cool if the Olympic broadcast would have a piece on comparative jumping.

I am not the NBA fan I once was, so I am not sure if there is a white guy on that list other than Bird and Rex Chapman, but looks to me like neither is representin' the pale brothers so well.
