Very interesting to see a possible breakdown of the economy of an American. Groceries is cheap in USA, I can see, but in general it breaks down pretty much similar to Denmark, where I live, except that we pay more in tax and less in insurance, and you can probably buy more for the same money than we can, as long as it's not electronics.

However, I noted a Hillary speech, where she was talking about being able to do shopping without having to think about what you buy. Somehow she hinted that she wanted to take care of that in the way that Americans should be able to continue doing that.

That's plain stupid. If you want to improve something, learn about it, find the numbers, evaluate, learn and decide. This applies to business as well as to your household budget.

OK, here is the penny pincher solution:

Get rid of:
Cable $65
Cell phone $50
Entertainment $500 (you must be kidding)
Work lunch $125
Charity $100
Dry cleaning $50
Vacations $250

Instead of going broke (-1076) you would have +64.

Further reduce:
Car payments $300 (-225)
Automobile gas $200 (-100)

You would even have +389 at the end of the month.

Does this mean that most of the debt is caused by stuff that is
luxury which you could live without? Interesting.
