If the racial remarks are mistakes, they are huge mistakes- I'm not sure that would reflect any better on her than an out and out strategy of playing the race card does. I mean, the choice would appear to be in that case "stupid" or "pandering to bigots". How to choose, how to choose? :-)

John,

I have to agree with you over your wife on the race issue. In my opinion, the press, looking for controversy, disliking the Clintons to begin with, wanting not to look racist, and for the most part, being in Obama's corner, took many comments made by the Clintons and spun them in the most negative way possible. The Clintons still have many prominent AA leaders in their camp so I can't believe that everybody took these statements as they have been played out in the press. Especially when having an AA candidate running for office, you have to be able to discuss racial issues openly and honestly without being worried all the time about being called racist.
