Ed;

Republican Party that's so ideologically crippled that it can't or won't learn.

Very well put! To listen to McCain is to suggest they sure aren't learning. Even as republican after republican stronghold falls, they continue to march as lemmings. It is not that basic republicans don't have good ideas - they do. The problem, as I see it, is that the party sold it's soul to fundamentalist Christians and ever since can't figure out what it stands for. They need to regroup, go back about 30 or 40 years and get back to their basic ideas.

"At a time when we should be anticipating the elections of a Democratic President and substantial Democratic power base in the House and Senate, the last thing we need is to have the two party system fail us completely because of a Republican Party that's so ideologically crippled that it can't or won't learn.

The deadliest enemies of the Republican Party are those like you who cling to discredited notions and continue in your vain attempts to breathe life into the rotting corpses of long dead policies.

Think about it. Ed"

Well Ed - where do I begin? To respond I have to make some assumptions - so - correct me if I assume wrong.

1. Why should we be anticipating government by the Democratic party? Why should we not be fearing it? In the last two years what have the Dems done? To me they have shown a worse desire to spend than that of the Republicans that Bush failed to control. I submit that the worst enemies a Dem president will have will be the Congressional chairmen - the long standing lions of the party.

2. What do you mean by the failure of the two party system? Do you mean that Republican power will be too weak to control the worst ideas of the far left? Or - do you mean that the failure would be a continuation of the partisanship the Dems have practiced so well.

3. Wow - those who continue to cling to discredited notions and want to breathe life into a rotting corpse? Wow again - that is real hate rhetoric of the first order. You da man! Let's see - true Republican principals, those lost in the recent Republican Congress, financial responsibility, limited government - are those the discredited notions? I sure do want to bring those back.

So Ed - think about how your rhetoric contributes to the body politic? I submit - rhetoric like yours is a major part of the problem! Think about!

As for the concept of speaking out - hey - let's have the debate! Lets really verbalize the issues so that when the election is over we know what the people voted for.

I welcome the debate - do you? Or - do want an election on feel good emotion?

Which is it Ed?

Bob
