Happy, the problems you speak of are well outlined in Paul Krugman's book: "the consicous of a liberal". On CD for anyone interested. It tells the dirty story of the neo cons affect on our society over the lst 40 years well. Our problems started when the south was forced to integrate and were so mad at the liberals that over night they changed from dem to republican and voted in Reagan, and Bush's and that let the neo cons loose. So This ushered in Ronald Reagan (who used the southern strategy-well known fact and undisputed by most) and supply side economics (which does not work, except for the rich)and the neo cons. So the republicans, except for the 8 clinton years, controlled the governement and ran the deficit from less than one trillion when carter left office to almost 10 trillion today. Don't blame it on the hippies. The south and neo cons have been running this country pretty much unfettered for almost 40 years and look what they have done to it!! Lil bush did not veto one bill with all the republican pork in it for 6 years (a record) put forth by the fully republican congress; and is now about ready to veto the GI bill however!! Just as he vetoed insurnace for poor kids.
