And that is not a partisan statistic. In some poles, in 12/01 Bush enjoyed approval ratings as high as 90%.

I think it is meaningful that the approval of the Congress is less.

The reality is that the condition of the nation is the result of the three branches of government. One branch cannot dictate policy alone. The fact that we are not in a good shape is a shared responsibility of all branches of government. Somehow the approval level of Congress shows that the public does get it.

Let us take the concept of energy - drilling, nukes, conservation and innovation. Each party is negatively associated with two of the four. What better sharing is there?

For instance - who takes the fall for the idiocy of ethanol - answer - both!
