A note to Obama on talking with Appalachia - chuckled over a scholar talking on this show, explaining why the revenuers had such a hard time of it when they came to get taxes on the stilled whiskey there... 1- the land, the destillers moved thier works up into remote hill spots. so hard to find. but 2- you don't hardly get someone there to 'tell' on someone else. the clan culture lives, or at least lived strongly then. and that is a culture that works "from the bottom up" he explained it more fully but it was right in keeping with one of Obama's favorite buzz lines about doing things from the bottom up. the trickle up theory. Since we know that whole trickle down thing has always been a bust. He might just have something in common with them. ya never know.
