But at any rate, progress amongst Arab countries stopped dead in its tracks. I've raised this issue before, and it is a legitimate question: Why, after 60 short years, have the Jews turned Israel into the most vibrant, progressive, economically viable region in the land? Prior to the occupation by Israel, the land was an absolute wasteland (tejek's uninformed views notwithstanding), and frankly, there is no reason the Palestinians couldn't have done more for themselves than they have in the 60 years following. I believe the only real explanation is that they are too focused on backward, hateful, values, and have no focus on making better lives for themselves and their children. They want to punish Israel more than they want to build lives for themselves.
