John,

I would agree up to a point. But from his perspective, as a Clinton supporter and middle of the road democrat academic, I am sure he has been subjected to the extremes of the other side of his argument. I get the feeling it was important for him not only to make a point about the reasonableness of his argument but to also to put in his perspective on different things about the campaign and the candidates.
