Last summer I went thru something like that with my elderly mother when I moved her back to her home state. The first name on her birth certificate was spelled wrong, so they wouldn't give her a state ID. Took about two months to resolve it, and I have 102 emails in my folder for that project. We had to get her original birth certificate record amended, and then get a new birth certificate. It was a close call, and for a while there I was afraid we'd have to go to court.

your commentary was sadly, yet hilariously true.... btw, i'm don't know if you can do this in your state, but in the state where i am originally from, you can specify that your SS # NOT be used on your driver's license....they will issue you a different number only for the DL.... callmeparanoidaboutidentitytheft.com

MM, that is one of the funniest horror stories I've ever read.... Belongs in the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.... Actually, maybe you should send it to Steve Sharkansky at Sound Politics....Maybe they could figure out where you should send it to get some valuable PR so the next MM or his sister/mother/auntie won't have to go through the same ordeal. Congratulations for not kicking someone with any of your feet, or butting them with those Moose Antlers....
