They have been planning this for a long time. They announced they're closing their St Paul truck plant a couple of years ago. Even though it was their most productive manufacturing plant, it was too expensive to retool it for some other product.

cuts for North American production of pickups, SUV's I saw that announcement on Fox, and I'm not surprised. Gas guzzlers are going to be flooding the used car market, it appears. I don't want a car payment, so I'm not going to change vehicles. I'll just drive less. Also, if a hybrid car driven by somebody talking on their cell phone runs into me (as I've seen happen to others in front of my very eyes), my Dodge RAM will sustain fixable damage, but the hybrid will be totaled.
