Look, conservation on a level that works for an individual is great. For me, I'm comfortable with where I am on the issue.

But I resent, DEEPLY, being told by others that I must sacrifice my basic freedoms in the interest of energy independence. There is no reason, whatsoever, the United States can't become energy independent without us sacrificing our lifestyles.

When Learjet Liberals come on the TV and and start telling me to reduce my fuel consumption, I am livid. When Obama starts talking about it "not being okay" with other countries if I drive an SUV, he can go straight to hell. I'm not going to give up my rights as an American to accommodate the Left. I am deeply opposed to interventions requiring automakers to deal with this problem. The market will handle it.

When you have $2 gas, there is no incentive for ANYONE to conserve. Even the increased cost of buying a hybrid doesn't make financial sense with $2 gas.

$4 gas changes things. As will $6 and $8 gas, which may well be coming.

But we don't need Hillary giving away $10,000 credits for energy efficient vehicles. We don't need Obama to tell us what to drive or to cede our sovereignty to foreign governments by requiring that we drive what is okay with THEM.

We need a paradigm shift, and it is coming, regardless of who wins the election.
