CD: You are dating yourself and many of us with it.
Not sure when you started getting serious about trading. For me it's a good 25 years. At that time there was really no internet and if you wanted to get live quotes, it would cost you about $500 per month and every trade cost a fortune.
Aside from that, forums do go stale. Not because they or the participants are no good but because they develop tunnel vision. They concentrate on certain segments no matter if the times for this segment is good or bad.
The "ethics" thing your daughter runs is a good thing but it has limited appeal. 99% of players don't give a rat's a$$ about ethics. They just care about their bank account.
Want to keep this forum alive? Broaden the scope as outlined in your header. PM's and BM's are only a minute part of the market.
You can't expect many new participants to sift through hundreds of often OT posts to find the one "gem"
JMHO and don't kill me.

CD, I get some good ideas of stocks to trade from your thread.
I need to, of course, do my own DD and then make a decision.
It strikes me you have quite a broad range of people giving a variety of input. Thanks R.

<<<Other people think that's true? Have these threads lost their cache?

no, similar to what you also thought, both sides, the bulls, and those that would be bullish at lower prices are probably just waiting...

there were some good heads-ups here about buying aru and dmm after they swooned...hopefully they work out

I don't want to be uppity here, but how long has your daughter in law been doing this?
3 weeks?
Trading sucessfuly requires study, time and many other things.
Chat rooms are a small piece of the puzzle, and can definitely be helpful, but a far cry from all that is required to be sucessful.
If it were only that easy everyone would be rich and there would be no one to do any work. But alas it is not that easy.
