If I read your point right, I think you misread the point you are citing. The point was that third world countries produce too little and consume too little. In other words, they need to produce more so they can consume more, instead of blaming it on what we consume.

They aren't making big money on a per capita basis, there just making more than they would without us.

The idea that trade with the US helps them, doesn't equate with the idea that they trade with the US so they can't be poor.

Also, the entire rest of the world does not depend solely on the American consumer for their livelihoods.

I never said they did. But exports to the US are very important to a lot of people.

Apart from the skewed world view and the faulty logic, that screed's style leaves a lot to be desired as well.

The world view and logic were pretty sound, but the rhetoric was overblown. As I admitted in another post to someone else's response it was a rant, rather than a thoughtful balanced piece.
