The "brown people" label drives me absolutely nuts because supposedly I am part of that group yet I am not at all brown.

I've always thought that an odd categorization. Of course, it's not intended to be descriptive. "White" people aren't white, either. And few "blacks" are black. Mostly they're brown. I had a black friend once upon a time who used to call me "pink," which fits me.

Is there anything else about it that bugs you other than that it's not descriptive? Is that why you call it insulting? Do you encounter it often?
