As much as people huff and puff and go on about immigrants and multiculturalism, I just chuckle most of the time because that horse left the barn a long time ago. Whatever Washington does we will have more than ten million illegals in the country, that number will grow a bit each year, and they will have lots of kids who are citizens and contribute to the diversification of American society. It's not something we can really choose to change. It's an established fact with such weight that even marginally changing the direction of the trend is like turning a supertanker on short notice. And our politicians are no less shortsighted and ineffective on this subject than on many other key topics. Trust them to "fix it"? C'mon. But people love to get all lathered about it, like it's yet another cause for the end of our entire civilization. Yawn.
