"Of course, you might not consider bombing US embassies and killing US diplomats to be "against American interests abroad"..."

They only count under the Clinton adm., prior to 9/11..

Most of those have no discernible link with al Qaeda except there might have been Arabs involved.

911, the African embassies, USS Cole, and SA attacks definitely were AQ. The 93 WTC bombing was masterminded by Ramzi Yousef, a close relative to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who planned 911. OPeration Bojinka was planned by Yousef and KSM too. A few of the things mentioned probably weren't.

----------------------------------------
After complaining about me allegedly posting things with "no discernible link with al Qaeda except there might have been Arabs involved" you do precisely that for the years 2004 -2008. Hmmm.

The exceptions to above:
2004:
Saudi Arabia, December 6: Suspected al Qaeda-linked group attacks U.S. consulate in Jeddah, killing five local employees.

Unsuccessful.

2006:
United Kingdom, United States, August 10: A major anti-terrorist operation by British Police disrupts an alleged bomb plot targeting multiple airplanes bound for the United States flying through Heathrow Airport, near London.

Unsuccessful - caught in plotting stage.

2007:
A U.S. federal grand jury indicts Christopher Paul, 43, a U.S. citizen and resident of Columbus, Ohio, on charges of joining al-Qaeda and conspiring to bomb European tourist resorts and U.S. government facilities and military bases overseas.

Ditto.

2007 Fort Dix attack plot. Six men inspired by jihadist videos are arrested in the U.S. in a failed homegrown terrorism plot to kill U.S. soldiers.

Ditto.
