CJ's thinking on this post is about as convoluted as one can imagine.

I think he has made your case for you.

"After complaining about me allegedly posting things with "no discernible link with al Qaeda except there might have been Arabs involved" you do precisely that for the years 2004 -2008. Hmmm. "

Well, yeah. I thought all attacks counted. I was just using the same rules.

"Unsuccessful."

Right. 5 employees of the consulate are killed and it wasn't successful.

Well, that voids a lot of your links. They didn't all kill Americans either.

Can we agree on some goal posts? They seem to be zooming all over the place.

The fact of the matter is that it is hard to determine if al Qaeda is responsible or not. In a post-Iraqi invasion world, there are many who claim al Qaeda ties, who don't really. al Qaeda in Iraq is a perfect example. Having al Qaeda ties, at least on paper, is sexy in the Arab world now for some reason. And, al Qaeda doesn't claim everything it is suspected of. The Spanish Metro bombings come to mind. As do the London ones. Neither have any connection to al Qaeda other than suspicions.

Which is why your list reminds me so much of the Clinton Pile 'O Bodies list. Yes, some on the list have connections. But, most don't. Even indirectly.

Now, there are some on the list that indisputably are linked to al Qaeda. However, those that are directly against US interests or people are fairly rare. When you look at the links I provided, you see that al Qaeda identified groups are hardly inactive. So it could just be a coincidence and not a real pattern.
