I can persuade MTN to add USD4.5million to our budget in 24 hours. Unheard off. Just did the same for Q1 2009 USD10 million. Wating fro the results.
My boss-the CTO cuts and pastes- the figures from Excel sheet into the document

The SMS and email generation: Most of my work mates are young people, I have been baffled by their incapacity to read more than one phrase.

I try hard to understand but it is dawning on me that it is the way school has taught them.

If I write we will do 300 sites by Dec. 31st. They understand that.

If I write we will do a maximum of 180 owing to the fact that ordering manufacturing, long lead time microwave equipment, shipping, customs clearing will prevent us reaching 300.

Adding to that we had to book space in Iran Air cargo airplanes which we were forced to use.

I am driving the guys to note that the most critical issue is.

They can’t follow a thought process. Mid-way they get lost and tell me: you wrote a bible.

I am coming to the conclusion that in the future we will not have people able to write nor read.

It is not likely to help much. From my own experience unless you are linguistically gifted you must learn two languages when you are young.

Being able to communicate well verbally is quite a challenge for many with a second language learned as an adult. Being able to for example write an essay on a book you read in the second language would be an large challenge IMO.

I think these movies where spies can pass themselves off as locals in various languages is probably very rare. You want to be spy how the hell are you going to pick up the local idiomatic expressions and accents.

I spent 2 years studying Spanish from Spain. Upon arriving in Barranquilla, Colombia for a 2 year assignment it took me 3 exhausting months to be able to sit in a meeting and listen to multiple people talking and catch 90%.

2 years later I could write procedures, but my local bi lingual engineer proofreader was very kind with the edits. I am sure after I left the grammar was fully revised.

I dont tire of Elmats English, just his constant pumping of ethanol, his nationalistic fervor, and being an apologist for Iran.
