Why do you think the Democrats of all people would make our energy problems worse? From what I've seen, the Republicans don't want to do anything except open up more lands to drilling and the Dems want to do everything except open up lands to drilling. So someone needs to knock heads together and get a law that opens up lands to drilling AND does everything else as well. Anyway, if I had to choose between only opening federal lands for drilling or having a comprehensive alternative energy and conservation plan, I'd go for the latter, because it will have the biggest impact over the long term on our dependency on oil.
