So was she in the earlier part. In fact, the topic came up throughout the book. The point is that people ARE speaking out, as she does in her sections of the book, and it doesn't get attention.

I'm not sure why you are going into some kind of denial mode about the attacks on Muslims after 9-11. You saw one unmolested. Yay. No one bothered our neighbors here either. But it happened and it was in the news.
