I think the people who show up are often like Pfleger. Who else goes to work in the inner cities but the radicals? Who else is going to care? People with a "cause" go to work in areas like this, and people with a "cause" aren't always the most cautious speakers. I mean MLK? You've heard some of his inflammatory rhetoric, right? But we're not going to throw MLK under an axle for saying them- not any more, that is. What did they say about MLK's Vietnam speech? Oh, that's right: “demagogic slander that sounded like a script for Radio Hanoi.” :-) Maybe in 50 years we'll be celebrating Pfleger Day.
