and imagine the opportunity obama would have to set aside doubts about his backbone. No doubt mccain is the safer of the two in this regard. But that doesnt mean that mccains belligerance if turned against iran without thought of consequences is necessarily the best course for the nation. And of course there are other issues in the fall to consider such as the state of the US economy and its floundering middle class. David Brooks in todays NYT says the republicans are clueless when it comes to this issue and this is the issue that resonates most in the US>
