Because they are having less success sure doesn't in itself equate to a fact that they have less influence on young minds. Having less success isn't the same thing as having less influence on young minds, but it is often a cause of having less influence. Also I'm talking more generally about the stature and success, not just the popularity among the young. To a great extent Al Qaeda's problems are their own creation. When they have achieved control they have alienated the locals.
