The crux of that looong article is ...

why not just go ahead and acquire all of WAVE outright, for a price that perhaps would not be too much different? Then you can go ahead and spin off the chip, systems and software businesses for hundreds of millions of dollars, plus you would have $558m worth of 2.5-2.7 GHz of spectrum, as per the calculation ...

All the numbers I've heard related to the value of Nextwave spectrum holdings are overpriced. Nextwave spectrum has nowhere near the customer penetration of current 3G spectrum. Folks fail to recognize (or at least acknowledge) that important difference.

Nextwave might be destined to be bought by someone ... but it's likely, in spite of its spectrum holding, rather than because of its spectrum holdings.

fwiw, I have always had concerns with many of the words coming our way via seeking alpha folk.

This could be good for Zenbu Wi-Fi zenbu.net.nz <Of particular note regarding WAVE’s chip business, is that it seeks to combine WiFi and WiMax into the same chip, and it may be the first company to achieve this milestone. > Wi-Fi, WiMax, EV-DO, HSPA are going to be commonly used access methods and each is likely to be around for quite a long time. So Zenbu would like to enable access via any of those which means having devices to enable customers to connect using any one in a range of spectrum.

People have multi-mode, multi-band cyber devices and service providers will want to enable connection for those who don't have multi-mode devices.
