TGP, I specifically remember Bob defending (or at least explaining) the original decision to go with P4 hyperpipelining, even after leaving Intel. There was the marketing aspect, of course, but it also made sense from a pure performance standpoint. If IPC goes down by 25% but clock speeds go up by 50%, it's a net benefit.

Mas is twisting the truth and using that as a basis to insult the intelligence of the Nehalem architects. Like I said, Mas is no Bob Colwell, nor can he even accurately represent his views.
