I respect the fact that people will disagree about it. But there is a tendency to call things "torture" that really are more aptly characterized in other ways. For example, I don't believe Abu Ghraib was "torture", but it was definitely abuse. It may be a distinction without a difference.

But if you watched 60 Minutes about the "Ray Gun" last weekend, it is easy to see why we shouldn't be so loose with the term "torture".

Honestly, though, people will line up on both sides on the Waterboarding issue. While I don't think it ought to be institutionalized or frequently used, if a qualified CIA interrogator believes it is the best way to get information from a high value detainee, then I think there are circumstances where it is the right thing to do.
