And there is no way to figure out by how much. Even getting a consistent figure on "proven" reserves is difficult, the numbers are all over the place.

I was listening to Rush and his 'drill everywhere, drill now' rant today. No way to drill our way out of this problem... we supposedly have 20 billion barrels of 'proven reserves' and we use 7.5 billion barrels a year. Of which we currently waste at least 3 billion barrels to inefficiency.

With some tech innovation and some incentives/disincentives I imagine we could get down to using ~3 Billion barrels a year in 12 years. And maybe 1 billion in 20 years. Problem solved... including GW.
