VLO -
I am not necessarily condemning you approach but I would be interested why you think that VLO @45$ is such a good entry. Dabum certainly would not approve - VLO chart look like a disaster. From a fundamental perspective I do not see a bright future either - with crude trading where it is domestic demand can only go down and based on historical replacement values (from 2001 to 2003 which i am not sure will provide any floor) VLO could go to 30$. What needs to happens is that some smaller and presumable less efficient refineries need to get out of business so the capacity overhang that is going to build up will be reduced.

FWIW I would be interested in what earnings you project in the future, the analyst projections in yahoo look way too high for me - I think that VLO will be happy to make 4$ this year.

"whatever psychology you subscribe to, knowing that the potential is there for the board "experts" to pick apart your posted trade(s) can be a humbling tool and keeps you on your toes."

Joe - great comment!

Another useful tool from this is board is hearing about royal screw ups. I've made some real bone headed trades and have shared a few.

Suspect many of us could sit around a bar and tell great traders stories...
