I think that's a bit strong. I know Obama gets a lot of grief for his Chicago connections but it is definitely an asset when it comes to economics with his connections to Univ of Chicago, one of the powerhouses of economic thought. Austan Goolsbee is a world class economist (an exception in Presidential/candidates economic teams) and Richard Thaler is an adviser. It was not a coincidence that Obama's stand on the Gas Tax was quick, decisive and met with approval from all the economists.

Sam posted yesterday that Furman has joined their team, only makes the team stronger. It's been reported that Obama demands that his advisers be proven experts - doesn't sound like someone who's clueless.
