I think anyone who disclaims his own medals out of disgust for his own service probably doesn't deserve them.

I believe that Kerry was awarded the Bronze Star for pulling another soldier out of the line of fire. That, in my view, was a heroic act.

My complaints with Kerry's service is that he disparaged other soldiers after he returned, and even though he got out of Vietnam due to what amounts to a scratch, he then tried to use his service as though he was something he wasn't. He served, but bailed out at the first chance while others with similar scratches stayed.

Make of it what you will.
