First-hand accounts of battles vary widely depending on the witness. It makes sense, too. No one can act as a rational, objective observer in the actual heat of battle.

But personally, I took issue with the way John Kerry portrayed himself as a war hero. "I'm John Kerry and I'm ... REPORTING FOR DUTY!" When he did that, his service in Vietnam became fair game.

I think what he did post war is fair game.

As for what he did over there, I am inclined to say his fellow officers have a right to their opinion. Especially when he is campaigning with members of his crew.
