Drop any American into the middle of that 2000 acres and 99.9% of them would mistake it for a wind swept hell of a waste land instead of the natural wonderland we have been educated to recognize it as today - from 4000 miles away.

he opposes drilling in ANWR because it would be like drilling in the Grand Canyon.

It's this kind of nonsense that could elect Obama. Not because it loses or wins votes, but because it stops him from going after the Dems on their Oil populism.

Perspective:

Size of a postage stamp = 1 square inch
Square Inches in a square foot = 144

size of a one quarter acre house lot = 1,568,160 sq inches.

ratio of 10 postage stamps to house lot = 10/1,568,160 = 0.00001

Size of ANWR = 19,000,000 acres

Ratio of drilling footprint to ANWR 2,000/19,000,000 = 0.00001

Question: Would a fastidious homeowner believe that his yard was trashed if there was a bare spot the size of ten postage stamps off in the corner?
