I already said I would give you everything you are asking for on a use it or lose it basis. Is that unfair?

We can increase efficiency and get past this problem.

I see that's the basis of our disagreement. I don't believe that. High prices can and do cause conservation, but that is going a painful process and we can't simply conserve our way out of using oil at all ... at least not in our lifetimes or that of our kids.


We don't have to use no oil at all. Oil is a wonderful, energy packed commodity. So precious and wonderful in fact that we should use it a sparingly as possible.

Driving single passenger SUVs, for instance, is not simply wasteful, it's obscene and anti-social. Raising the fleet average to 30 MPG is worth more than a half dozen ANWRs.
