<<<OUr moms may have gone as far as was possible within the confines of their world. They truly weren't prejudiced as much as they were restricted by the social structure of the times>>>

My mom was mostly uneffected by the changes that took place during the 60's but people my generation were frightened and took flight from the inner cities. They moved to the suburbs in enormous numbers.

Whereas my mom's prejudices were rooted, they were mostly benign. This can not be said of those of my generation that took flight. They have however been able to keep their feelings to themselves and to those they think feel the same as they do.

Their views will not show up in most polls but I am afraid their feelings will show up in the polling booths.

The narrow decision of the SC in defense of habeus corpus has me concerned especially with the way Obama supporters are so dismissive of the way people like me feel about the situation.

I don't think they have a proper perspective of the electorate as it approaches the November elections.
