JFShepard, the good news coming out of the high price of oil is that people are forced to conserve, especially us Americans. More people are taking mass transit than ever before, more people are buying hybrids, carpooling, etc.

There's still plenty of room left for conservation here. Not that I think it's going to make a huge dent on the CO2 levels in the atmosphere, but being less wasteful has other advantages.
