I'm not sure about the magic pill to clear your arteries, but I'm currently attempting to do the clearing, but it sure as hell isn't a one pill regimen.

About a 18 months ago I stepped off the court at one of the finer racquetball establishments in San Diego, sat down on the sofa in the lounge and woke up 3 days later with this funny looking zipper on my chest after a 4-way re-plumb.

In doing research on how to lead my new life as a heart attack survivor I came across the Ornish guy... I made up my mind that if there was a way to reduce plaque, I'd give it a try for a few years and see where it went. Dean Ornish proposes a radical lo-fat, well, bordering on non-fat actually, diet along with exercise and stress management to reduce the levels of plaque build-up. I do the statin thing to help with the cholesterol along with a pretty heavy exercise schedule. My cardiac guy pushes me on the Med diet and I will occasionally lapse into it, but with a pretty much Vegan diet and exercise, I've managed to keep total cholesterol to 100 or less for the last 18 months with the LDL component in the mid to low 50's. I'm told that LDL =< 70 can lead to a 10% reduction in blockage per year. I'm back into the clinic in 2 weeks to have my 2nd annual 'Let's check your carotids to see how blocked they are' ultrasound. Apparently they monitor the buildup in the carotids and extrapolate that as being representative of the remainder of the plumbing.

Who sez you can't live forever?? B^)
